SHAFFER, Sally J. -- Sally J. SHAFFER, 76, of Lockridge, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Arrangements are pending at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

SHAFFER, Sally Jeannine -- Sally Jeannine SHAFFER, 76, of Lockridge, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Frank Tortat, the Rev. Paul Miller and the Rev. Steve Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

Open visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mrs. SHAFFER was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Leo and Ruth ENDICOTT GRAF. She married Oren Garvin SHAFFER Nov. 23, 1952, at Nazarene Church in Monmouth, Ill.

Mrs. SHAFFER graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1952. She and her husband made their home in Monmouth, Ill., until 1985. They then moved to Arizona and resided there until 11 years ago. At that time, they moved to make their home in Lockridge.

Mrs. SHAFFER attended Pilgrim Nazarene Church in Mount Pleasant.

She enjoyed cooking, especially pies; reading; and making trips to the library. She was fond of the West and raised cacti in her home.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Douglas SHAFFER of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Leilani DODD and husband Dan of Milan, Ill., Leah BLAUVELT and husband Mark of Tempe, Ariz., Kimberly MILLER and husband Merlin of Fairfield and Lisa CHOUDHARY and husband Subodh of Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and one stepsister, Linda GRAF WILSON of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Rosalind SMITH GRAF; and one stepbrother, Terry GRAF.
