HUFF, Clinton E., Jr. -- Clinton E. HUFF, Jr. 96, formerly of Bonaparte, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, S.D.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bonaparte United Church in Bonaparte with the Rev. Paul Rekward and the Rev. Richard Eis officiating.

The burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to the Bentonsport Cemetery, Greenglade Cemetery or the Bonaparte United Church can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 2756 Lake Shore Drive, Volga, S.D. 57071. Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. HUFF was born Jan. 29, 1913, north of Bonaparte, the son of Clinton E. Sr. and Mabel Irene HUFF. He married Eula D. MARMION Feb. 26, 1939, in Farmington; they were married 49 years. He married Lorraine JANNINGS of Milton in 1991.

Mr. HUFF farmed between Bonaparte and Bentonsport for 52 years. He moved to Brookings, S.D., in 2007 and lived there with his daughter until his death.

Mr. HUFF was a member of the Bonaparte United Church and the Van Buren County Farm Bureau. He also was involved in the Bonaparte Lions Club and Saddle Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing the violin and the steel guitar, which he formerly played in various bands.

Survivors include one son, Wayne HUFF and wife Kathy of Laurel, Mont.; one daughter, Patricia MOORE and husband John of Brookings, S.D.; two sisters, Helen Jean of Washington, Iowa, and Marianne SCHREPFER of Bonaparte; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eula; one son, Clinton HUFF III; two brothers, Benjamin and Morris HUFF; and five sisters, Alice, Pearle, Eunice, Mary and Edna.
