McDAVID, Vickie E. -- Vickie E. McDAVID, 57, of rural Bonaparte, died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery in Mount Sterling.
Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Pony Express Riders of Iowa or Lupus Foundation may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 25356 Red Bud Ave., Bonaparte 52620.
Mrs. McDAVID was born Sept. 4, 1952, in Keokuk, the daughter of Craig and Jessie HARVEY DIETERICH. She married Robert McDAVID Aug. 31, 1974, in Milton.
Mrs. McDAVID grew up in the Medill community area west of Kahoka, Mo. She graduated from Clark County High School in Kahoka and attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. She and her husband lived in several communities before living near Bonaparte the last several years. She had worked at WCAZ Radio Station in Carthage, Ill., and KXOF Radio Station in Bloomfield. She also had worked 17 years as a secretary at Barker Co. Ltd. in Keosauqua until retiring for health reasons.
Mrs. McDAVID was a member of American Quarter Horse Association and Pony Express Riders of Iowa.
She enjoyed taking trail rides, caring for her horses and playing cards and games with friends.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Steven McDAVID and wife Jentrie of Raeford, N.C.; one daughter, Jami BUTNER of Fairmont, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Michelle McDAVID of Bonaparte, Amy SPEARS of Franklin and Emily NEELEY and husband Josh of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; her mother, Jessie HODGES of Keokuk; and one brother, Gary DIETERICH of Downing, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Craig DIETERICH; and stepfather, Ken HODGES.
