HIRAM S. ANGSTEAD DIED YESTERDAY; FUNERAL TOMORROW

Hiram S. ANGSTEAD passed away, yesterday afternoon at three a'clock (sic), at his home on East Jefferson street. He has been ill for over 3 years and death came as a relief from his sufferings. He was a little past 77 years of age.

Mr. ANGSTEAD was born in Pennsylvania, October 14, 841 (sic). He was a veteran of the Civil war, enlisting in the 7th Iowa Infantry at the beginning and served until the close in '65.

He was married to Sarah O. LYNN in 1868, who with the following children survive: Robert H., Daisy L. PIERSON, Harriet A. GREEN, William H., J. Clyde J. Edward, Mrs. Myrtle VAN DYKE, D. Raymond, Floyd C, Harold S. Claude C., age 14 an Cecil C. (sic) age 21 preceded their father in death, both passing away as the results of foot ball accidents.

Mr. ANGSTEAD had been ill since December 25, 1915, having suffered a stroke of apoplexy. Three years of the time since then he has been confined to his bed, a constant sufferer.

Mr. ANGSTEAD was a carpenter and builder and has been a resident of this county for his entire life since coming here with his parents, John and Aurelia ANGSTEAD when but a baby. He has made his home in Fairfield for over 30 years.

The funeral will be held from his home. Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial will be on the family lot in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.072 with wife Sarah who died in 1932. The death year on his gravestone is 1918, which is not correct - he died in 1919. Three and a half years before his death he accidently fell from a building on which he was working, landing on his shoulders and back, and suffered greatly the remainder of his life.
