THOMSON, Helen Grace -- Helen Grace THOMSON, 103, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Vista Woods in Ottumwa.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Family visitation will be from 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Fairfield Public Library, Faith United Methodist Church or Iowa Hospice. Memorials may be mailed to Bob Allison, 436 East Manning, Ottumwa 52501.

Mrs. THOMSON was born Jan. 2, 1907, in Dahlonega, Wapello County, the daughter of John W. and Katie L. RODIBAUGH PEEBLER. She married Bert THOMSON April 26, 1930, in Ottumwa. He died June 3, 1997.

Mrs. THOMSON graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1925. Besides teaching in Jefferson County for a few years, she and her husband lived for 42 years in Baudette, Minn., where Mrs. THOMSON worked as a bookkeeper for Farrell Hardware.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.

Mrs. THOMSON enjoyed reading, sewing and oil painting.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Van PEEBLER, Wanda McNEIL, John PEEBLER, Hazel ALLISON and Edith WHISLER.
