MOORE, Mabel Frances -- Mabel Frances MOORE, 93, of Sigourney, formerly of West Chester, died following a lengthy illness Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Manor House Care Center.

A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with Tom Widmer officiating. Interment will be at West Chester Cemetery in West Chester.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to West Chester United Methodist Church and West Chester Heritage Association.

Mrs. MOORE was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Des Moines, the daughter of Bertie Clarence and Mary Marie WOODS GEE. She married Howard William MOORE April 6, 1933, in Des Moines. He died in 1985.

Mrs. MOORE was a homemaker. She also worked as a cook and janitor for West Chester Public School for 21 years. She was a resident of West Chester from 1952 until moving to Fairfield in 2005. She moved to Sigourney in 2008.

Mrs. MOORE was a member of West Chester United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Women's Society and was involved in the visitation and mission efforts of the church. She cooked for Senior Citizens at West Chester and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a past member of the Halcyon House Guild Board in Washington.

She enjoyed camping and making lap blankets for residents at Halcyon House.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy KESSEL and husband EuGene of Ollie; one son, Howard MOORE Jr. of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Mary Marie; one great-grandson; one brother; and five sisters.
