PAXTON, Velna Irene -- Velna Irene PAXTON, 89, of Packwood, died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Richland.
Mrs. PAXTON was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Nugent, the daughter of William and Olga FAUTH WALLERICH. She married Eddie Harlan PAXTON July 3, 1939, in Lancaster, Mo. He died March 14, 1988.
Mrs. PAXTON attended Manhattan Country School and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1939. She lived most of her life in Packwood and worked at Universal Producing Co., Parsons College, American Chain and Cable and Jefferson County Hospital. She retired in 1982.
Mrs. PAXTON was a member of Packwood Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship.
Her favorite activities were quilting and crocheting.
Survivors include four daughters, Edith MEYERS and husband Terry of Fairfield, Judy SHARP and husband Tom of Ollie, Jeanette BRINNING and husband Charles of Richland and Freddie LISK of Fairfield; two sons, Larry PAXTON of East Pleasant Plain and Eddie Harlan PAXTON Jr. and wife Francine of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, J.W. PAXTON; two great-grandchildren; four infant brothers; one infant sister; and two brothers, Clifford and Charles WALLERICH.

PAXTON, Velna Irene -- Velna Irene PAXTON, 89, of Packwood, died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Packwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. The body has been cremated in accordance with Mrs. PAXTON's wishes.
Memorials may be brought to the graveside service. Memorials may also be mailed to the family at 2259 Marigold Blvd., Fairfield 52556.
Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Richland.
