Former Resident Dies In Georgia

Funeral services will be held in Fairfield later this week for Mrs. Florence BURNS, former resident, who passed away last night in Griffin, Georgia.

Mrs. BURNS is the widow of the late James Walter BURNS of Fairfield. She became suddenly ill yesterday morning and died at 8 p.m. last night.

The body is being returned to the Monger Funeral home where last rites are pending.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle BURNS are leaving today from Minneapolis. Elois and Robert will accompany the body of their mother from Griffin. They will be guests in the home of the other son, Jack BURNS and Mrs. BURNS, 50 S. Sixth street.

Funeral Services For Mrs. BURNS To Be Held Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence BURNS, former lodal resident, will be held in Fairfield Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church.

Mrs. BURNS, widow of the late J. W BURNS, died Tuesday in Griffin, Georgia, following a sudden illness. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. BURNS was born June 29, 1879 in Macon, Illinois, the daughter of William and Louise SLATTERY. She was married to J. W. BURNS in Fairfield September 30, 1904. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942.

She was a member of the local St. Mary's church and the Rosary society.

She is survived by the following children: Eloise BURNS, Griffin, Georgia; Lyle BURNS, Minneapolis, Minn.; John M. BURNS, Fairfield, and Robert A. BURNS, Griffin, Georgia. One sister, Mrs. Walter OLIVERSON, Oklahoma City, Okla., two brothers, Clarence and William SLATTERY, Fairfield, and two grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be in charge of the Rev. O. F. DeCoursey and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the John BURNS home, 50 S. Sixth street, at 8 p.m., Friday. The body will arrive in Fairfield today and will lie in state at the BURNS home.

Monger Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
