SMITH, Martha 'Katheryne' -- Martha "Katheryne" SMITH, 97, formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in Burlington.

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with words of comfort by Monty Smith. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

No visitation is planned.

Mrs. SMITH was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Fairfield, the daughter of Ralph and Mabel SMITH HARPER. She married Wilbur SMITH March 7, 1935. He died Jan. 25, 1987.

Mrs. SMITH was a homemaker.

She enjoyed doing word finds and crossword puzzles in earlier years.

Survivors include one son, Merle SMITH of Burlington; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
