PEPPER, Clifford -- Clifford PEPPER, 75, of Batavia, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 3, 2009, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

PEPPER, Clifford L. 'Pep' -- Clifford L. "Pep" PEPPER, 75, of Batavia, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 3, 2009, at home.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Packwood Christian Church with the Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Cremation will be accorded, and interment will be at a later time in Packwood Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

A memorial has been established to Packwood Christian Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home of Fairfield. Online condolences may be sent via www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Mr. PEPPER was born March 6, 1934, in Washington, Iowa, the son of C. Howard and Margaret LUNDQUIST PEPPER. He married Charlene FLEMING Aug. 1, 1954, in Batavia.

Mr. PEPPER grew up in the Packwood community and graduated from Packwood High School in 1952. He and his wife lived most of their married life in the Packwood community before moving west of Fairfield in 1991. He was a retired farmer and drove for Dickey Transport for many years. He was also a former inspector for Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company.

Mr. PEPPER was a member of Packwood Christian Church and Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 15 of Fairfield. He was a former Richland Lions Club member and was active in other community activities.

He enjoyed music and played in the Ed Bruegge Band. He also enjoyed traveling and camping and had spent the past 11 winters in Mesa, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cindy McROY and husband Bryan of Bartlett, Tenn.; one son, Craig PEPPER and wife Debi of Ankeny; and one niece, whom he and his wife raised, Marcia FLEMING of Grimes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
