Esther S. SNOOK Taken In Death

Esther S. SNOOK, 70, member of a pioneer Jefferson county family, died Tuesday afternoon at the Briggs-Eskew Nursing home.

Service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home. Dr. C.R. Douglass will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Miss SNOOK had been ill for more than two years. She suffered a fractured hip in September, 1957 and entered the nursing home in February, 1958.

She was born in Fairfield Aug. 23, 1889, the daughter of Dr. Calvin and Ella ANDERSON SNOOK. She spent her entire life in this city with the exception of four years in Florida and California during World War II. The family home was a 201 E. Broadway.

Miss SNOOK graduated from Fairfield high school in 1907 and received her degree at Parsons college in 1911. She taught kindergarten in the local public schools for several years after graduation.

Miss SNOOK was a member of the secretarial staff at the Louden Machinery Co. for 25 years. She was also employed in the office of the Heston and Anderson Co. for several years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Chapter C of PEO, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonists. She was affiliated with the Elzevir sorority at Parsons.

Miss SNOOK is survived by three cousisn, Mrs. Will McFADDEN, Sigourney; Marion YOUNG, Melbourne, Fla., and C. YOUNG, Waterloo. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
