McKIM, Chester 'Chet' L. Jr. -- Chester "Chet" L. McKIM Jr., 69, of 3000 Adams Lane Apt. A, died at 9:15 p.m. October 24, 2009 at Jefferson County Health Center.

He was born July 9, 1940 in Ottumwa to Chester and Virginia GREINER McKIM Sr. He married Peggy Louise ROBERTSON May 20, 1961.

Chet served in the Marine Corp. He worked for Dexter Foundry for over 25 years.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife, Peggy; 5 children, Chester "Sam" & Kristi McKIM III of Libertyville, Jeff & MayDuan GIBERSON of Stockport, Jack & Vicki McKIM of Fairfield, Lester "Charlie" McKIM of Mt. Pleasant and Carl & Susie CHANDLER of Pleasant Plain; 14 grandchildren, Tricia & Scott, Crystal & Royce, Jamie, Julie, Chester IV, Ashley & Mike, Cecily, Rick & Christine, Charli, Derrikk, Jordan, Jack Jr., Cody and Clayton; 4 great grandchildren, Ryan, Cassidy, Izayah and Makenzie; a brother, Marion "Butch" & Robin McKIM of Waukee; 2 sisters, Vickie & Mike FISHER of Bloomfield and Pat & Judy WOODARD of Junction City, KS.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rick McKIM; his parents, and a brother, Jackie McKIM.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation will start after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
