Frand Darwin KERRICK, son of Walter and Sarah KERRICK, was born in Marshall county, Ill., June 4, 1867, and departed this life January 12.
He resided on the home farm and was educated in the local schools of Marshall county, Ill., and later graduated from the business college in Valparaiso, Ind., and, after coming here, took two years in Parsons college.
He came to Fairfield in 1891, since which date he has made this his home. When he first came to Fairfield, he bought a farm northwest of Fairfield, which he owned and managed for two years. He was married to Miss Lina C. KING in 1893, to which union there was born one daughter, Mary Louise, who passed away in December six years ago. After marriage, Mr. KERRICK worked for one year for Bryan, Risk and Salzman at Merrimac and then he entered the partnership of Z.H. Held and Company, in the furniture and undertaking business which they conducted for a number of years, after which J.C. BRADSHAW and he were partners for a number of years until he took over just the undertaking part of the business, which he has operated for the last thirteen years. He was secretary and treasurer of the Jefferson County Building and Loan association since its organization some five years ago. He was president of the Iowa Undertakers association in 1912 and a delegate to the National Undertakers association convention in New Orleans in 1913.
He united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a young man, and coming to this city placed his membership in the First Methodist Episcopal church here and entered the choir, and has been a member ever since.
He had been a member of the board of trustees for a number of years and for the past few years its president as well as the treasurer of the church.
He is survived by his wife and one of four brothers, O.M. KERRICK of Grand Junction, Col., two half sisters, Mrs. Mary BURD of Topeka, Kans., and Mrs. I.N. HOLLENBACK of Los Angeles, Calif., all of whom are too infirm to come to the funeral.

Transcriber Note: Frank D. KERRICK and his wife attended a 1913 convention of undertakers in New Orleans. At that convention the KERRICKS learned about burials above ground, in mausoleums specially built for that purpose. When the KERRICKS returned to Fairfield they began the process of starting what was to become Fairfield Abbey. That structure stood until the 1960's when structural problems eventually forced it to close and be razed. The KERRICK family was interred at Fairfield Abbey. When it was closed the KERRICK family was reburied in 2nd Addition at Evergreen Cemetery, along with forty other individuals who were unclaimed by any living relatives for reburial.
