PRILL rites on Friday

Mrs. Orville L. PRILL, 73, died Tuesday at the Jefferson County Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A resident of Fairfield since 1928, she was employed at the Louden Machinery Co., and later at the Universal Producing Co. She served as receptionist in the APO rent office in Burlington during World War II.

Mary BARNES was born Nov. 20, 1905, near Cuba in Monroe County, the daughter of William Patrick and Mary Grace MILLER BARNES. She was married to Reuben GUNNARSON in 1925. He died as result of a farm accident in 1926.

Her marriage to Orville L. PRILL took place Oct. 27, 1940, in Edina, Mo.

Mrs. PRILL was a member of the First Christian Church, a charter member of the Iowa State Genealogical Society, Daughters of American Revolution and Daughters of American Colonists. She had spent the past 25 years until her health failed collecting and compiling data of Jefferson County pioneers and making it available to researchers.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a stepson, Ronald PRILL, two step-granddaughters and two step-great-granddaughters all of Fairfield; a brother, Vercel BARNES, Mitchelville; three sisters, Ella SAUNDERS, Bloomfield; Norma HORA, Conelius, Oregon; and Elaine PETERS, Fort Madison.

Mrs. PRILL was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and two brothers.

Note: The obituary for Orville PRILL, (April 4, 1997; Fairfield Ledger) refers to the previous married name of Mary as being "GUNNINSON".
