ROBERTS, Roberta Bell -- Roberta Bell ROBERTS, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Higley Mansion Care Center in Cedar Rapids.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church in Keosauqua, with the Rev. ellis andrews (lower case sic) officiating. Cremation was entrusted to Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Burial of cremains will be in Center Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials to Center Chapel United Methodist Church may be mailed to the family at 3120 Adirondack Drive NE, Cedar Rapids 52402.

Local arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mrs. ROBERTS was born June 30, 1913, on the Easter Honey Creek farm near Bonaparte, the daughter of James and Leta EASTER. She married Arthur ROBERTS June 2, 1934. He preceded her in death.

In 1927, Mrs. ROBERTS' family moved to the large house known as Hill Top in Bonaparte. She played the violin and learned to quilt. She graduated from Bonaparte High School, where she had played basketball. Mrs. ROBERTS earned a teaching certificate from Parsons College in Fairfield and taught at Prairie Queen, a one-room schoolhouse near Mount Sterling. She and her husband farmed in Van Buren County until moving to Cedar Rapids in 2000 when his health declined.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty CRIST of Denver, Colo., and Mary WAUER and husband John of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith HARNESS and Kathryn DHORITY; four brothers, Robert, William and twins John and Hugh; and one infant great-grandson.
