SMITH, Erma Florence -- Erma Florence SMITH, 95, of Packwood, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Ottumwa Hospice House in Ottumwa.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Packwood Christian Church, with the Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Interment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Lifeline or Packwood Christian Church.

Mrs. SMITH was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Elmer and Lillian LEACH NIECE. She married Dale LeRoy SMITH Dec. 31, 1937, in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1980.
Mrs. SMITH graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. She was a schoolteacher in the Trenton area and did substitute teaching in the Pekin area.
Mrs. SMITH was a member of Packwood Christian Church, TTT of Packwood and Jolly Janes.
Survivors include one son, Gary SMITH of Ollie; one daughter, Sherry DAY and husband Richard of Farifield; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry SMITH; three brothers, Harold, Fred and Arnold NIECE; and one sister, Mary HUSTON.
