BUCK, Robert David -- Robert David BUCK, 59, died peacefully in the presence of his wife and family in the early hours of October 8, 2009, at the hospice facility of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Cindy JEVNE BUCK.
Born in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 3, 1950, Rob received B.S. in Physics from Michigan State University. He moved to Fairfield in 1985 and received his M.S. in Computer Science at Maharishi International University. For the past 15 years he worked in Fairfield for Seattle-based Intermec Technologies Corporation, a manufacturer of hand-held computers. A software architect, Rob rose to the position of senior technical strategist, specialing in the field of Radio Frequency Identification. He was active in international standards work, with responsibilities that often took him overseas.
An avid windsurfer, Rob traveled regularly to the meccas of wind with a band of surfing buddies. He was a pilot, and for many years owned a plane and made innumerable trips around the Midwest with family and friends. He was happiest "in any moving vehicle" and spending time with friends in Fairfield and family in Battle Creek. He loved longs walks in the woods with Cindy and his best canine friend Tucker, and movie nights with his "adopted son" Sylvio (Charly) CRONE of Fairfield and Cologne, Germany.
Rob is survived by his wife Cindy, whom he married June 6, 1992, with his mother Jeanne BUCK WINER of Battle Creek, MI, his sister Lynda ATTEBERRY and husband Carl of El Paso, TX, his brother Douglas and wife Rita of Grand Rapids, MI, and his brother Greg and wife Vicky, brother Scott and wife Diane, and brother Stuart, all of Battle Creek, MI, and many beloved nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his father, David Lynn BUCK, who died in 1965.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 18, at 1:30 PM in Dalby Hall in the Argiro Center of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield.
