Violet D. PARSONS, 80, 410 C St., died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial wil be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. PARSONS was born Oct. 12, 1917, near Noble, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Elizabeth SLOAN-KAUFFMAN CONRAD. She married Wesley PARSONS on May 30, 1953, in Montrose. He died Aug. 20, 1992. She had lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. She was a telephone operator for United Telephone Co., finding the position challenging during the Parsons College years. She retired in 1979. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Maxine Bates Circle. She enjoyed nature, cooking and playing the organ.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon OGDEN of Rochester, Minn., and Carol MILLS of Englewood, Colo.; one stepson, David PARSONS of Pinehurst, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Pearl Ann MILLER of East Lansing, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Dale CONRAD.
