BUCHANAN Rites Will Be Tuesday

Death came late yesterday afternoon to David L. "Dave" BUCHANAN, retired farmer and well known resident of Fairfield. He passed away about 6:30 p.m. at his home, 205 E. Hempstead, after being in failing health the past two years and seriously ill the past two weeks.

Last rites will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

David Laird BUCHANAN, 87, was born Aug. 10, 1871, in Jefferson county. He was the son of the late William and Eleanor LOCKE BUCHANAN. He was reared, educated in the Libertyville community, and was a farmer until his retirement several years ago.

He was united in marriage to Clara E. BROWN on Jan. 25, 1891, who preceded her husband in death on Apr. 28, 1921. He was married a second time Oct. 6, 1928, to Bird FULLER who survives. The wedding took place at Libertyville. He has been a resident of Fairfield for the past 18 years.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. N.E. (Mable) CRAWFORD, Stockport; and five sons, Ray and Melvin, both of Cody, Wyoming; Floyd, Missoula, Mont., Albert, Greybull, Wyo., Harold Birmingham. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons, two brothers and four sisters.

Note: Buried at Evergreen Cemetery 2nd.070. Both wives, a 13 year old son son Charles, and another son Verl C. (and his wife Nora Clare CARMICHAEL) BUCHANAN are buried in the same plot.
