PARKIN, Robert D. -- Robert D. PARKIN, 84, of Fairfield, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

PARKIN, Robert D. -- Robert D. PARKIN age 84 of Fairfield died Monday, September 21, 2009 at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born August 18, 1925 in Fairfield, he was the son of William Steven and Pearle PARK PARKIN. A lifetime resident of Fairfield, Bob graduated from Fairfield High School in 1943. He attended Parsons College and received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving from 1943 until 1946.
Bob was an attorney in Fairfield for over 50 years before his retirement.
He married Jacqueline M. MORLEY on June 15, 1950, she died on August 2, 1998.
Bob married Carol WEIDNER KLEPINGER of July 3, 2001 at Lake of the Ozarks.
Bob was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. #15, KAABA Shrine, V.F.W., B.P.O. Elks #1192, American Bar Association and the Fairfield Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Fairfield Dixieland Band founded in 1964.
Deceased family members include his wife Jacqueline and his parents.
Surviving are his wife Carol, son Michael William PARKIN and wife Heike of Palo Alto, CA., daughter Mary L. PARKIN SHERRILL and husband Michael of Camdenton, Missouri; 4 grandsons: Andrew P. SHERRILL, David R. SHERRILL, Nathan D. PARKIN and Benjamin L. PARKIN; and one brother William L. PARKIN of Fairfax, Virginia, and his stepdaughter Kristin KLEPINGER PARKHURST of Aurora, CO.
A memorial service for Robert D. PARKIN will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joe Phipps officiating.
Interment of cremains will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church prior to the service at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the American Home Finding Association in Ottumwa or to the First Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
