OSBORNE, James Deleon -- James Deleon OSBORNE, 78, of Keosauqua died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, of cancer, at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center Hospice in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Elsa Lawry and the Rev. ellis andrews (lower case sic) officiating.

Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.

Visitation will be open from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with family present from 3-5 p.m.

Memorials to the Hospice Department at van Buren Good Samaritan Center (sic) may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 533, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. OSBORNE was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Moulton, the only child of William C. and Olaf HOWARD OSBORNE. He married Vera Lee WENDLAND Sept. 5, 1954, in Moulton.

He graduated from Moulton-Udell High School, with the class of 1948. He attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant.

In 1957, Mr. OSBORNE assumed operation of the Osborne Oil Co., the company founded by his father in 1936 in Moulton.

He and his wife purchased the Standard Oil bulk plants in Bloomfield and Keosauqua in 1974 and the service station in Keosauqua in 1984, which continues under the ownership of the Osborne family. He was active in the business until stricken with cancer in June.

Mr. OSBORNE was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church and Keosauqua Lions Club. He had been a Mason and Odd Fellow in Moulton.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cheryl NICHOLSON and husband Kerry of Ankeny; one son, Darrel OSBORNE and wife Pam of Keosauqua; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
