Wednesday, December 13, 1989Berryville, Ark. - A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Berryville for retired Fairfield physician John William CASTELL.
CASTELL, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 1989, in Berryville. He was a Fairfield physician from 1936-72, except for five years during World War II when he was a major in the U.S. Army.
He was born Dec. 28, 1907, in Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School, Parsons College and the University of Iowa School of Medicine, in 1934.
CASTELL married Harriet Ruth HOPE June 29, 1935. She survives, along with children Hugh of Bellevue, Wash; Linda CASTELL-SNELL of Redwood City, Calif.; and Melanie ST. JERMAINE of Concord, N.C.
While in Fairfield, CASTELL was active in the Lions Club, First United Methodist Church and Boy Scouts of America. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield First United Methodist Church.
