Guylan BEATTY dies suddenly

Guylan "Bud" BEATTY, native of Fairfield, died suddenly Tuesday at 3 p.m. at his home, 403 S. Second.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in the BEATTY plot in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Clair Odell will officiate.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library.

The son of Harry and Grace McGAW BEATTY, he is the last descendant of Guylan BEATTY who settled in Fairfield in 1861.

BEATTY was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College. He was a veteran of World War II and in 1945 he was united in marriage to Frankie DRESSENDOFER of Milton. She survives.

Active in sports and an enthusiastic sports fan, he was a familiar figure at football games and on tennis courts.

BEATTY was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Admin note: Guylan's wife Frankie subsequently married to Richard J. SCHAUB, died in 2012, and is buried with Richard in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, Van Buren Co., IA. There is a gravestone for her on the lot with Guylan, but no record of her burial there - this is a memorial marker ('cenotaph') only.
