HUNT, Fred -- Fred HUNT, 64, of Fairfield, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in Minocqua, Wis.

A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Walton Club in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to Dr. Kate Hospice of Minocqua, Wis.

HUNT, Fred B. -- Fred B. HUNT, 64, of Fairfield passed away Monday, September 7 at his summer home in Minocqua, Wisconsin after a very determined and courageous five year battle with cancer.

Fred was born January 4, 1945 in Fairfield, Iowa, son of John and Ruth BUTLER HUNT. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1963, attended Parsons College and graduated from the University of Iowa. Fred was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1967-1973 where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

After college Fred went to work with his father at the Fairfield Line where he later became President and then Chairman before retiring due to his illness.

Fred married Barbara DYER on November 11, 1972 and they had two daughters, Nicole HUNT and Megan (Sagar) PATEL both of Fairfield. He has one grandchild, Noah PATEL.

Fred was a member of Fairfield Golf and Country Club, Walton Club, Minocqua Country Club and Elks. Fred was an avid golfer with several holes in one and holds the record for low score at the Walton Club. He also very much enjoyed fishing, hunting and regaling friends and strangers with his colorful stories. He was an accomplished pilot, obtaining his license at the age of 20 and flying many years thereafter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, daughters and one grandson.

Fred will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He was truly one of a kind.

Fred requested any memorials be directed to the Dr. Kate Hospice at PO Box 770, Arbor Vitae, WI 54568.
