HARGROVE, Mary Eleanor PINNELL -- Mary Eleanor PINNELL HARGROVE, 86, formerly of Milton, died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Bloomfield Care Center.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Elsa Lawry officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 3-4 p.m.
Memorials to Milton United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to PO Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.
Mrs. HARGROVE was born April 29, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Leland and Lucille RICE PINNELL. She married Donald C. HARGROVE in 1963.
Mrs. HARGROVE's family moved to Ottumwa from Kansas City. She graduated from University of Iowa in 1945 with a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on the violin. She taught music at public schools in Kansas, Colorado and Iowa. She and her husband lived on the family farm near Milton. She had resided at Bloomfield Care Center since November 2008.
Mrs. HARGROVE was a member of Milton United Methodist Church. She also was a member of United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star Twin City Chapter No. 258 of Douds and P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter AD of Milton.
Survivors include a niece, nephew and sister-in-law.
