McDAVID, Thomas E. -- Thomas E. McDAVID, 87, of rural Bonaparte, died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Van Buren Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 1113 of Keosauqua, will be in Harness Cemetery, Mount Sterling.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to bonaparte EMTs may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 25316 Rosebud Ave., Bonaparte 52620.

Mr. McDAVID, was born June 21, 1922, at Grayson, Ky., the son of John and Emily GRUBB McDAVID. He married Dorothy COCHRAN Nov. 5, 1944, at Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. McDAVID grew up in Gladstone, Ill., and lived in Clark County, Mo., and for many years in the Mount Sterling and Bonaparte area. He had farmed and worked as a carpenter for Kisling Construction Company in Keosauqua. He also had worked many years for the Van Buren County Secondary Roads Department.

Mr. McDAVID served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in the Army of Occupation in Japan.

Mr. McDAVID was a member of Pony Express Riders, American Quarter Horse Association and American Legion Beer-Barker Post. He had been a member of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Keosauqua.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lorna COMEAU of Astor Park, Fla., and Mary FETT of Bonaparte; one son, Robert McDAVID and wife Vickie of Bonaparte; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steve McDAVID.
