KETELSEN, Annelene 'Oma' -- Annelene "Oma" KETELSEN, 83, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of rural Lockridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Rick Latta and the Rev. Steven Prickett officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Rome, Iowa.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

Memorials may be made to Grand Cemetery and Home Health Care.

Mrs. KETELSEN was born May 28, 1926, in Nordstrand, Germany, the daughter of Alfred and Christine NICHOLSEN REINHOLD. She married Georg Peter KETELSEN May 4, 1946, in Nordstrand. He died June 2, 1997.

Mrs. KETELSEN completed her education in Germany. She and her husband emigrated from Germany to New York City in 1954. They later became naturalized U.S. Citizens. They settled in the Merrimac area shortly thereafter. They moved to Pleasant Plain before settling on their farm south of Lockridge in 1957. Mrs. KETELSEN worked as a dishwasher at the former Cozy Café. She then became a housekeeper at Iris Court Motel. She later accepted a position at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. She finished her working career at Ruby's Cleaners in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. KETELSEN was a Lutheran and attended First United Methodist Church in her later years. She was a member of a women's neighborhood club in Lockridge.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidering.

Survivors include three daughters, Petra WHITE and husband Dean of Mount Pleasant, Helga TRABERT of North Liberty and Linda STEVENS and husband Jim of Stockport; one sister, Freidel EMPEN of Nordstrand, Germany; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elle REINHOLD; and two brothers, Otto and Kurt REINHOLD.
