Alson HODSON, son of James and Elizabeth HODSON, was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, October 14, 1859, and departed this life April 15, 1924, aged 64 years, 6 months and 1 day.
Practically his whole life was spent in this community. He lived in Fairfield a few years. His death followed an illness of a few weeks. He was united in marriage with Anna HODSON January 19, 1887. To this union four children were born: Bessie who died in infancy, Mrs. Winnie BAILEY of Fairfield, Mrs. Edith McMURLEY and Charles W HODSON of Pleasant Plain. Besides the wife and children he leaves eight grandchildren and one brother, Irwin HODSON of Pleasant Plain, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
He was a loving and faithful husband, an affectionate father and will not only be greatly missed by the family circle but by his many friends as well.
Funeral services were conducted at the family residence, Thursday at 10 o’clock, by Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Smith, pastors of Friends church at Pleasant Plain. Interment was made in the Friends Walnut Creek cemetery about one and a half miles south of town. The flowers sent by friends were very beautiful.
