HIGGINS, Carolyn Ann -- Carolyn Ann HIGGINS, 82, of Fairfield, died this morning, Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009.
Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

HIGGINS, Carolyn Ann -- Carolyn Ann HIGGINS, 82, of Fairfield, died Thursday, August 13 at the Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Monday August 17th, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield. Fr. Stephen Page will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield. A private family interment will take place at Keokuk National Cemetery on Wednesday (note: in Lee Co., IA). Carolyn Ann MUSCARELLI was born October 22, 1926 at Norristown, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Harry and Ann SABRE MUSCARELLI. She graduated from High School in Norristown. Carolyn attended Nursing school and then joined the Army. She attained the rank of First Lt. while serving in the Army. She served in the Army from October 1950 to January 1953. She was stationed in Germany where she met James HIGGINS. They were married on April 19, 1952 in Germany. They moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1955 and then to Fairfield in 1966. She attended Parsons College for four years and received her teaching degree. She worked at the Ottumwa Hospital, Henry County Hospital and the Jefferson County Hospital. She also taught Nursing at Indian Hills Community College for fourteen years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include her husband James of Fairfield; four sons, James of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert of Fairfield, Garry of Ft. Myers, Florida, Eddie of Ocala, Florida; two daughters, Cathy MORELL of Baltimore, Maryland, Ann HANSHAW of Marietta, Georgia; one sister, Elizabeth RODENBAUGH of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie MICHNER, Theresa BURNETT, Catherine McCAUGHAN and one brother, Harry MUSCARELLI.
A memorial fund has been established.
