LAWSON, Edwin C. -- Edwin C. LAWSON, 76, of Fairfield died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Elmore officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Fell Cemetery south of Libertyville. Open visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fell Cemetery Association.

Mr. LAWSON was born June 12, 1923, in rural Libertyville, the son of Van T. and Bertha SCHOVEL LAWSON. He married Bessie T. HALL Dec. 20, 1947, in Fairfield.

Mr. LAWSON was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He retired after 14 years as custodian at Pence Elementary School in 1988.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann B. BAKER of Wellsville, Mo., and Carol SUTTON of Millersburg; one son, David LAWSON of Wapello; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian HELFENSTINE of Spirit Lake and Evelyn CLINGAN of Fairfield; and one brother, Max LAWSON of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Carl LAWSON.
