McTEE, Robert Dean -- Robert Dean McTEE, 79, of Fairfield, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

A funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fairfield Friends Church, with the Rev. Dave Elmore officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

A memorial has been established to Fairfield Friends Church for youth ministry.

Mr. McTEE was born Aug. 29, 1929, near Crawfordsville, the son of James and Nanny Frances MARTIN McTEE. He married Virginia May DERBY Sept. 1, 1948, in Burlington. She survives.

Mr. McTEE was a 1947 graduate of New London High School. For many years he enjoyed farming in the Lockridge and Brighton areas before moving to rural Fairfield in 1964. Following the move, he continued to farm while also working at Acco Chain and Lifting. He had a lead man classification and worked on the heavy cranes.

Mr. McTEE was a member of International Machinist and Aero Space Workers. He also was a member of Fairfield Friends Church.

He enjoyed welding and making practical objects out of iron. He also enjoyed spending time visiting with friends and fishing. He was partial to cattle and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie BRYANT and husband H. BURR of Alburnett and Carol ROACH and husband James of Dallas, Texas; one son, Jerry McTEE and wife Nancy of Gadsden, Ala.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel KINCAID, and three brothers, Charles McTEE, Lawrence McTEE and William McTEE.
