PLOWMAN, Ruth E. -- Ruth E. PLOWMAN, 95, formerly of Douds, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

PLOWMAN, Ruth E. -- Ruth E. PLOWMAN, 95, formerly of Douds, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery.
Visitation, with the family, will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Christ United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 3845 Monarch Ave., Marion 52302.
Mrs. PLOWMAN was born May 24, 1914, in Winfield, the daughter of Carl E. and Mabel B. STEPHENS GARMOE. She married Theodore W. PLOWMAN May 21, 1939. He died Oct. 24, 1988.
Mrs. PLOWMAN grew up in Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School and from Parsons College with a bachelor's degree. She moved to Douds in 1939 and to Cedar Rapids in 2002. She taught English and home economics at junior high schools and high schools in Richland, Selma, Douds and Ottumwa.
Mrs. PLOWMAN was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds. She was a member of the Wapello County Retired Teachers Association, Ottumwa Women's Club, Van Buren County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Douds Chapter T.T.T. and Douds Book Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy DOZIER of Marion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl GARMOE and two infants; and one son-in-law, Ronald DOZIER.
