LIEBHART, Elmer -- Elmer LIEBHART, 85, of Richland, died today, Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Ottumwa Good Samaritan Center in Ottumwa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

LIEBHART, Elmer E. -- Elmer E. LIEBHART, 85, of Richland, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Ottumwa Good Samaritan Health Center.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Kim Gates officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery. A light lunch will follow at Richland United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at PO Box 181, Richland 52585.

Mr. LIEBHART was born March 9, 1924, in Canoga Park, Calif., the son of H.E. and bertha GOODRICH LIEBHART. He married Marilyn BOUGHNER Oct. 13, 1970, in Dufur, Ore. She died in 1997. He married Sandy DUDLEY Jan. 30, 1999, in Richland.

Mr. LIEBHART attended schools in California and Oregon. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He later joined the Texas Army National Guard to complete a 20-year career. He drove a truck for 20 years, was a carnival worker for several years and was a Pekin school bus driver for several years. He had been in failing health before his death.

Mr. LIEBHART enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing, golfing and training his pets.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carolyn HARDING and husband billy of Houston, Texas, Julie PILLING and husband James of Houston, Texas, and Pauline BAY of Portland, Ore.; two stepchildren, Ann RANDOLPH of Richland and James HEASLEY and wife Shawna of Ottumwa; six grandchildren ;six great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and one brother.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons and one brother, George LIEBHART.
