SIMPSON, Larry Joe -- Larry Joe SIMPSON, 60, formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dove Witt Family Mortuary in Fountain, Colo. Cremation has been accorded.

Memorials may be sent to Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 Highway 85-87, Fountain, CO 80817, in care of the family.

Mr. SIMPSON was born in Fairfield, the son of James "Tip" and Thelma LYONS SIMPSON.

Mr. SIMPSON graduated from Fairfield High School in 1966. He was active in sports and received the first Rick Creek Memorial Trophy for basketball. Mr. SIMPSON retired from the United States Army after serving 21 years and then worked as a security guard in Fountain, Colo., for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Heidi; four children; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim of Fairfield; and one sister, Pam HUFFMAN of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tom "Bullet" SIMPSON.
