SCHULTZ, George Ralph -- George Ralph SCHULTZ, 78, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph-Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Cards and memorials may be sent to 2301 136th Blvd., Fairfield 52556.

Arrangements are in the care of Behner Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent via www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. SCHULTZ was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Louis and Minnie JANKA SCHULTZ. He married Shirley GREGORY Feb. 12, 1955, in Tipton.

Mr. SCHULTZ graduated from Fairfield High School. He farmed all his life.

Mr. SCHULTZ was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph-Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Survivors include his wife; eight children, Marian MILENDER and husband Leonard of Fairfield, Michael SCHULTZ and wife Susan of Jacksonville, Fla., Stephen SCHULTZ and wife Janet of Johnston, Audrey SHELLER and husband Joseph of Cedar Rapids, Christopher SCHULTZ of St. Petersburg, Fla., Douglas SCHULTZ and wife Kris of Fairfield, Paula CHICOINE and husband David of Papillion, Neb., and Michelle SCHULTZ-SCHROUD and husband Darren of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; and four siblings, Raymond, Jess, Virginia and Rita.
