Annabelle G. POHREN, 85, formerly of East Pleasant Plain, died early today, Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Annabelle Gertrude POHREN

Annabelle Gertrude CAVINESS POHREN, 85, formerly of Brighton, died early Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the church, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and Prayers for a Christian Wake at 8 p.m.

Memorials to the St. Joseph Cemetery Association or to a charity of the donor's choice may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 302 Penn St., Brighton 52540.

Mrs. POHREN was born June 23, 1923, in rural Brighton, the daughter of Lloyd L. and Lillian HOOK CAVINESS. She married Richard P. POHREN June 8, 1942, in East Pleasant Plain. He died Sept. 2, 1998.

Mrs. POHREN grew up in the Pleasant Plain area and graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1941. She was a housewife who helped her husband farm and later drove a school bus for many years. She lived most of her life in the Pleasant Plain area until moving to Fairfield in 2000.

She was a member of Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include three daughters, Kay ADAM of Fairfield, Jean YELOVICH of South Bend, Ind., and Rita POHREN of Pleasant Hill; three sons, Dick POHREN and wife Kay of Pleasant Plain, Mark POHREN and wife Jane of Fairfield and Bob POHREN and wife Becky of Keosauqua; one daughter-in-law, Liz POHREN of Fairfield; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry POHREN; one grandson; and two brothers, Dale and Donald CAVINESS.
