HOLDEN, Florence L. HELMICK -- Florence L. HELMICK HOLDEN, 87, formerly of Bonaparte, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Larry Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery in rural Selma, followed by a luncheon at Heritage Baptist Church in rural Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to Van Buren Good Samaritan Center may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the famly at 315 N. Fourth St., Oskaloosa 52577.

Mrs. HOLDEN was born May 9, 1922, in Selma, the daughter of Fred and Maggie HARTLEY HEM.

Mrs. HOLDEN had lived in the Ottumwa area, in Cantril and, for many years, Bonaparte. She was a homemaker and had various occupations, including waitress, cook and nursing assistant. She also had worked at Bonaparte Glove Factory. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since January 2007.

Mrs. HOLDEN was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Fred HELMICK and wife Conni of Oskaloosa, Duane L. HELMICK and wife Barb of Mount Pleasant and Earl HELMICK and wife Rose of Pine Bluff., Ark.; one daughter, Barbara Ann DAVIS of New London; two stepsons, John HOLDEN of Bonaparte and Dick HOLDEN of Tacoma, Wash.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darvin HEM of California and Royce HEM of Hartford; and two sisters, Eldonna GRAHAM of Moulton and Muggins NUTTER of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne HELMICK and Richard HOLDEN; two brothers, Charles and Bob HEM; one stepdaughter, Judy HOLDEN; and her parents.
