SMITH, Carol Ann -- Carol Ann SMITH, 73, of Chester, W. Va., formerly of Douds, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at Valley hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.

A funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, with the Rev. Phil Fairchild officiating. Burial was in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown, Pa.

Memorials to Valley Hospice Care Center may be mailed to the family at 6657 Veterans Blvd., Chester, WV 20634.

Mrs. SMITH was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Chester, the daughter of Max C. and Stella M. WRIGHT. She married Lester "Pete" SMITH Feb. 12, 1954.

Mrs. SMITH graduated from Chester High School. She worked for many years in the office of Oak Glen High School. She and her husband lived in Douds from 1996 to 2005.

She had been a member of Chester First Christian Church and Zion Bible Church.

She also had been a member the Douds Ladies Bowling Team.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Leslie FIELDS and husband Ed of new Cumberland, W.Va., Debbie DAVIS and husband Bruce of Weston, W.Va., and Lori PLUMMER and husband Bob of East Liverpool, Ohio; one son, Barry SMITH of St. Clairsville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley DeLONG of Burnet, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lisa Kay SMITH; and two brothers.
