WOODBURN, Dorothy 'Eleanor' -- Dorothy "Eleanor" WOODBURN, 90, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dave Elmore officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Family visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Fairfield Friends Church. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1998 Redwood Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. WOODBURN was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Poweshiek County, the daughter of Lathal and Hazel BEDELL SPARKS. She married Robert WOODBURN Feb. 22, 1941, in Ottumwa. He died June 17, 1995.

Mrs. WOODBURN graduated from Fairfield High School in 1936 and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. She was a nurse at Jefferson County Hospital.

Mrs. WOODBURN was a member of Fairfield Friends Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Bill WOODBURN and wife Linda LEE of Fairfield; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Wayne WOODBURN; and one brother, Henry SPARKS.
