MOWERY, Susan C. -- Susan C. MOWERY, 71, of Rock Island, passed away at her home Monday April 13, 2009.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be at Coal Valley Township Cemetery, Coal Valley. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for the great-grandchildren's education fund.

Susan was born June 16, 1937, in Fairfield, IA, a daughter of William S. GRIFFIN and Lila May HOSKINS GRIFFIN. She married Richard MOWERY on July 21, 1956 in Fairfield, IA.

She worked for the Rock Island School District for 27 years. She retired from Denkman School in 1997.

Susan enjoyed going to Bingo, NASCAR, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Hawkeyes, and Chicago Bears play. She loved spending time with her family and two sonderful great-grandchildren, Tabitha ASHPAUGH and Malik JONES. She also loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family. Susan will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Survivors include her husband, Richard, Rock Island; sons, Rick, Bob, and Scott MOWERY, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Dawn ASHPAUGH, and her husband Mike, Melissa MOWERY, and Scott MOWERY, Jr; siblings, Terry and Bob GRIFFIN, both of Rock Island, Tammy HAIFLEY, Altoona, IA, and Larry GRIFFIN, and his wife Sue, Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Susan has now joined her father, William, mother, Lila, and brother, Billy GRIFFIN in heaven.
