Nov 4, l976Merlin L. (Sparky) KELLER, 62, 1003 W. Briggs, a long time Fairfield resident died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1976. He became Ill while downtown and was rushed by ambulance to the Jefferson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 2:20 p.m. He had been in failing health the past 11 months.
The deceased was born July 31, l914 in Jefferson County, the son of James B. and Mae NOTT KELLER. On Feb. 18, l961, he married Edna METZGER.
KELLER worked for the Louden Division of American Chain and Cable for over 30 years, retiring in July, l976. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles Lodges.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Larry of St. Louis Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Sharyn WORKMAN of Fairfield and Alisa KELLER at home; three step-sons, Ralph SMITH of Fairfield, Rodney and Richard SMITH, both of Winfield, Kansas.; two grandchildren; Todd and Tiffany WORKMAN of Fairfield; two brothers, Delbert KELLER of Fairfield and Rollie KELLER of San Francisco, California; three sisters, Vera LEYDEN of Fairfield, Florence ZILLMAN of Parsippany, N.J., and Esther BAILEY of Gravois Mills, Mo. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa, with the Rev. D.O. VanDyne officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa.
