Ronald Alan Johnson, 56, of 802 Liberty Drive, Fairfield, Iowa, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2000, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Casket Bearers are Larry Anerson, Gary Askew, Edd Felgar, Larry Hedger, Gary Johnson, Jim Nixon, Steve Schaffner, and Chuck Workman. Following the committal service, friends and relataives are invited to the Iowa National Guard Armory for a luncheon and fellowship.

Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home., Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Cancer Fund, Fairfield Little League or Babe Ruth.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 2, l943, in Jefferson County, the son of Willard B. and Vera A. Coen Johnson. He married Sandra K. Brown Dec. 28, l968, at St. Mary's in Ottumwa.

Mr. Johnson graduated from Stockport High School in 1961. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo. He was a teacher in Moravia and Van Buren Community Schools for a couple of years. He was an independent insurance broker for Principal Financial for 26 year.

He was a sergeant first class in the Iowa National Guard Band for 27 years. He played taps for many military services. He played with the Dixieland Band; Art Reifsnyder Band; and his own band, E-Z Listening.

He was president of Fairfield Babe Ruth. He coached and managed in the Fairfield Little League and Babe Ruth programs.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; his parents, Willard B. Johnson of Fairfield and Vera A. Coen Johnson of Fairfield; one son, Brad Johnson of Fairfield; one daughter, Tiffany M. Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; and one brother, Robert Johnson of Brownsberg, Indiana.
