SHEMANSKI, Stanley -- Stanley SHEMANSKI, 81, of Keota, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Maplewood Manor in Keota, following a brief illness.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Polishville Community Center, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Polishville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home in Keota and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the community center.
Memorial funds have been established to the American Cancer Society and Polishville Society.

Mr. SHEMANSKI was born Aug. 13, 1927, near Pleasant Plain, the son of Peter and Stella WENCEL SHEMANSKI. He married Eithel DICKSON Nov. 29, 1958, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
Mr. SHEMANSKI graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1944. He and his wife moved to the Keota area, where he worked as a farm hand for R.F. McDowell for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. SHEMANSKI was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota.
He enjoyed gardening, farming, raising chickens and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gary and wife Kathy of Iowa City, Jim of Pershing, Rick and wife Karen of Solon and Dave and wife Cari of Keota; six grandchildren; and one sister, Louise SCHILLERSTROM of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond in infancy and Eugene.
