HOPPER, Alice Mae AMES -- Alice Mae AMES HOPPER, 88, of Fairfield, died today, Thursday, March 19, 2009, at her daughter's home in Brighton.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Green City, Mo., with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. Cards and memorials may be sent to 504 W. Fountain St., Brighton 52540.

Mrs. HOPPER was born May 2, 1920, in Green City, Mo., the daughter of Clarence and Ruth BOLANDER AMES. She married Luther HOPPER Oct. 9, 1942, in Green City. He died May 18, 1992.

Mrs. HOPPER grew up in Green City, where she attended Red Brush School. Her first years of marriage were spent farming in and around the Green City area. In 1956, she and her husband moved to Fairfield. She was a self-employed housekeeper.

Mrs. HOPPER was a longtime member of Free Methodist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and quilting.

Survivors include four children, Sharon MAHAFFEY and husband John of Kirkville, Betty BROWN and husband Dell of Ames, Nola KLEEMEYER and husband Rod of Brighton and Don HOPPER and wife Sue of Lockridge; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Marea WALKER of Green City, Mo., Bernice ZINSLI of Fairfield and Harry AMES of Green City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one daughter and one sister.
