DeWITT, Edwin -- Edwin DeWITT, 93, of Stockport, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A Masonic service open to the public will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Virgil Morris presiding. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 of Stockport, will be in Spencer Cemetery, northeast of Stockport.

Open visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family visitation from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorials to Spencer Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at PO Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. DeWITT was born July 20, 1915, in Stockport, the son of Frank Festus and Sarah Frances ANKROM DeWITT.

Mr. DeWITT graduated from Stockport High School in 1934. He lived many years in Portland, Ore., where he was employed as a mail clerk with the United States Postal Service. He retired to Stockport in 1976. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since April 2004.

Mr. DeWITT served in the United States Army Air Force in the African and European campaigns during World War II. He was awarded seven Bronze Stars, one for each battle he was in.

Mr. DeWITT was a longtime member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Workman Lodge No. 634 in Stockport.

Survivors include his twin sister, Edna DeWITT FLACK of Waterloo, and his special friend and caregiver, Betty GWINNUP of Stockport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Opha PETERS, Effie WHITE, Bonnie WATSON, Orin DeWITT, Harry DeWITT and Wallace DeWITT.
