SHRIVER, Florence Annabelle FISK -- Florence Annabelle FISK SHRIVER, age 89 of Keystone Cedars, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Fairfield died February 26, 2009 at home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Steffenville, MO.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 4 at Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, IA. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, IA, and the Lord's Cupboard, Fairfield, IA.

Florence was born June 14, 1919 near Comfrey, MN, the daughter of Guy and Sadie FISK. The family later moved to the Jeffers, MN vicinity. At the age of three, her mother passed away from swine flu after giving birth to another sibling a few days earlier. She was raised by the U.D. FISK family. After graduating from high school in Jeffers, she moved to Spencer, IA. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. until enlisting in the Navy. She was a Chief Petty Officer in Naval Intelligence for four years. Florence returned to NW Bell at Sioux City, IA and traveled as a Service Representative Instructor. She married Paul P. SHRIVER September 25, 1953 in Spencer, IA. They lived a short time in Iowa City before moving to Fairfield in 1954.

She was a clerk for JC Penney Store for 15 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a DAR member of the Log Cabin Chapter, member of the Care Review Committee of Nelson Nursing Home, a previous officer of the Board of Senior Citizens and a member of the Deborah Circle (FUMC). Florence cherished numerous social activities, including coffee time with friends, walking with friends in the water at the pool and was always ready for a card game. She also enjoyed designing and hand quilting a variety of quilts for family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters: Pamela and husband, John COUSER of Marion, IA, Debora and husband, Mike McINTOSH of Tucson, AZ, and Carol and husband, Scott ELAND of Keosauqua, IA, six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, and one step-great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers: Harold and Floyd FISK and Charles TRIPP, two sisters that died in infancy and three stepchildren.
