SINGER, Carl Edwin -- Carl Edwin SINGER, 83, of Stockport, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Harlan VanVoorst officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Eagles Club No. 1927. Cards and memorials may be sent to 2556 Union Ave., Stockport 52651.

Mr. SINGER was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Packwood, the son of John and Ellen POPE SINGER. He married Jacqueline NORTHCUTT June 28, 1947, in Fairfield. She died May 24, 1997.
Mr. SINGER graduated from Packwood High School and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was employed by Dexter and John Deere. He later farmed in Round Prairie Township.
He was a member of Eagles Club No. 1927 of Fairfield.
Survivors include three children, William Douglas SINGER and wife Connie of Fairfield, Ronald Edwin SINGER of Stockport and James Carl SINGER and wife Kim of Batavia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Howard, Paul and Stanley SINGER and an infant; and two sisters, Nancy HIXON and Ruth SCHOOLEY.
