FREEMAN, Duayne N. -- Duayne N. FREEMAN, 82, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at home.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Interment will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1616 Dogwood Drive, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. FREEMAN was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Harry and Ethel NIECE FREEMAN. He married Donna ROW June 19, 1949, at the Methodist parsonage in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. FREEMAN attended elementary school in Oakland Mills and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1944. He had been a resident of Jefferson County since 1951. After marrying, he and his wife farmed in Round Prairie Township until 1996. Mr. FREEMAN was employed for 20 years at BlueBird Midwest until his retirement and then at Fiber Utilities in Libertyville until his death.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading.

Mr. FREEMAN was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield and held several church offices.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Joe FREEMAN of Fairfield, Dan FREEMAN and wife Judy of Blue Grass and David FREEMAN and wife Phyllis of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glen FREEMAN; and one sister, Marjorie OLSON.
