MADDIX, Barbara Jeanne -- Barbara J. MADDIX, age 83, formerly of Libertyville, IA, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, IA.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield between 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, February 15, 2009 at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville. Interment will be in Fell Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Fell Cemetery Association, or Faith United Methodist Church. Cards and memorials may be sent c/o: P.O. Box 262, Libertyville, IA 52567.

Barbara Jeanne MADDIX was born in Libertyville, IA on February 2, 1926 to Roy and Ferne (PARKER) HILL. She was married to Verne L. MADDIX in 1943 and they later divorced.

Barbara lived and worked her entire life in the Libertyville and Fairfield communities. She was employed for many years at Universal Producing, and later worked at Walker's Office Supply, Loving Spoonful Cafe, and Fairfield Community Schools. Barbara attended Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville and was active in United Methodist Women, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as State VFW Auxiliary President from 1988-1989. Barbara enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, and attended many VFW National Conventions. She was an accomplished cook, and seamstress, and delighted in baking specialty cakes.

Surviving Barbara are her children and their families: Ronald MADDIX and wife Sharon of Chapel Hill, FL, Terry CHANNEL and husband Roger of Libertyville, IA, Mike MADDIX of Palmyra, MO, Lynda DURFLINGER and husband Jr. of Kirksville, MO, and Eric MADDIX and wife Robin of Tinley Park, IL. Barbara was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Jeff MADDIX, Jason MADDIX, Christen BREBBIA, Khara HOFFPAUIR, Ryan CHANNEL, Regan CHANNEL, Jennifer LAWRENCE, Nicole COOK, Colleen MADDIX, Chad McCLEARY, Sara POOR, Ashley STEPHENS, Hailey MADDIX, and Kendall MADDIX; as well as 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson, and brother, Gerald HILL.
