RUBLE, Jack -- Jack RUBLE, 80, of Ankeny, formerly of Douds, died at 8:50 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

RUBLE, Jack -- Jack RUBLE, 80, of Ankeny, formerly of Douds, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Taylor House in Des Moines.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral, with burial of cremains at a later date in Ottumwa Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, where the family will be present from 4-5 p.m. Open visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials to Mount Moriah Cemetery in Douds, Taylor House in Des Moines or Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 408 N.E. 31st St., Ankeny 50021.

Mr. RUBLE was born April 29, 1928, near Douds, the son of Clyde and LaRue DOWNING RUBLE. He married Donna HANSHAW June 21, 1949. He later married Judy SHEUMAKER Feb. 23, 1991.

Mr. RUBLE graduated from Douds High School in 1948. He graduated from Coyne TV and Refrigeration School in 1949. For 22 years, he worked for John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa, where he was assistant manager of the data processing department. After the business closed, Mr. RUBLE worked for 28 years as a purchasing agent for Al-Jon in Ottumwa. He retired in 1999.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, fishing in his earlier years and watching sporting events.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis RUBLE of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Jan THOMPSON of Ottumwa; two stepdaughters, Dana KENNEDY and husband Dick of Hinton and Kim MORTALE and husband John of Ankeny; three grandsons; six stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Maurice RUBLE of Bartlesville, Okla., and Clyde RUBLE of Copan, Okla.; and one sister, Patricia TOWLES of Blue Springs, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin RUBLE; and one sister, Kay CRIST.
